Tonight it's all about poor Elizabeth Edwards, as it should be. By Sunday morning, I predict it'll be about what Obama knew, when he knew it and how he'll respond. The story of the then-pregnant Rielle Hunter and Edwards' possible involvement hit the National Enquirer in late 2007, Obama accepted Edwards' endorsement in May.
Hillary Clinton and John McCain reacted in about the ways you'd expect -- she's sympathetic to the family, he ain't touchin' it with a 10-foot tire gauge. Seems about right, since she's been there and he's done that.
For her part, Elizabeth released a statement to Daily Kos saying, in part:
John made a terrible mistake in 2006. The fact that it is a mistake that many others have made before him did not make it any easier for me to hear when he told me what he had done. But he did tell me. And we began a long and painful process in 2006, a process oddly made somewhat easier with my diagnosis in March of 2007.
